Chiselwood - art with wood

Carl and Jeanne Beaumont developed Chiselwood as a small New Zealand family owned and operated business, involved in the sale of high quality NZ made furniture, woodware, Jewellery and wood art.

Carl is a formally trained and trade qualified Cabinetmaker with over 35yrs experience in furniture design, construction, repair, restoration and sales of furniture and interior Joinery.

Jeanne has a flair for design and has a background in finance.

Chiselwood evolved because of the demand for individual pieces of fine furniture and wooden items, constructed from unique NZ native and overseas timbers from sustainable sources. The Antipasto platters are made from recycled French oak barrel staves.

Sourcing unique New Zealand made furniture is becoming increasingly difficult. Carl is a self confessed hoarder of old wooden things which can be restored or recycled. He has many different types of native new Zealand timbers and unusual foreign recycled wood. He also enjoys rebuilding early NZ colonial furniture, back to its former glory.

The McCormick House Edwardian, heart rimu dining table was found in a chicken shed painted green. Carl left some of the surface burn scars, cut marks and dents to show its history. It is now restored and used daily. It still has its original brass and porcelain castors along with two centre leaves.

He has just completed a matching seven foot recycled heart rimu sideboard to keep it company.
